Alabama Libraries Week

WHEREAS, in 1904, the Alabama Library Association was formed in Montgomery, Alabama, for the purpose of promoting libraries and library interests within the state; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Alabama Library Association has evolved to provide leadership for the development, advocacy and improvement of library and information services; and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Library Association strives to promote the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Association will gather in Montgomery for their Annual Convention on April 23 through April 26, 2013; and

WHEREAS, the theme of the 2013 convention is “Alabama Libraries: Find Your Voice!”:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby do proclaim the week of April 21 through April 29, 2013, as

in the state of Alabama.
