EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 45

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 31-2-41 and Section 31-2-77, Code of Alabama (1975), the Governor of Alabama is authorized to establish additional awards and decorations for the Naval Militia and National Guard of Alabama;

WHEREAS, members of the Alabama National Guard are providing an invaluable service to family members of our fallen heroes, by rendering proper recognition through professional military funeral honors;

WHEREAS, members of the Alabama National Guard are expending large amounts of time to respectfully serve as Honor Guard Team members;

WHEREAS, members of the Alabama National Guard have served and continue to serve as Honor Guard team members, to offer this very fitting, somber service to the families who are mourning the loss of their loved one; and

WHEREAS, the Military Advisory Board recommends the establishment of a decoration to reward Honor Guard team members for their service.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the State of Alabama, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Alabama, find, declare and order that the Alabama Honor Guard Ribbon be established, that the award approval authority is delegated to the Alabama Adjutant General, and that the criteria for the award of this ribbon be established by the Military Advisory Board and documented in the appropriate State Military Department Regulations and Instructions.
