EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 2

WHEREAS, the state government of Alabama consists of many agencies, departments, authorities, boards, councils, task forces, initiatives and commissions (“Boards and Commissions”);

WHEREAS, Boards and Commissions were established and created by the Legislature and by the Governor via executive order to accomplish short-term and/or long-term goals;

WHEREAS, certain Boards and Commissions no longer meet due to various reasons, including the accomplishment of their established purpose, codification by the legislature, the merger of the purpose with another state entity, or the irrelevancy of the established purpose to the current state of affairs; and

WHEREAS, the dissolution of obsolete Boards and Commissions allows for the reduction of a bulky and unwieldy bureaucracy and prevents and corrects the perception of overlapping responsibility and authority.

NOW, THEREFORE, based upon these considerations, and for other good and valid reasons, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the State of Alabama, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the State of Alabama, do hereby rescind Executive Order 31, dated August 11, 2005, Executive Order 35, dated August 29, 2007, Executive Order 42, dated May 22, 2008, and Executive Order 4, dated January 25, 2011, and dissolve the entity or entities created thereby, including the Interagency Council on Homelessness, the Governor’s Community Notification Task Force, the Alabama Broadband Initiative, and the Alabama Commission on Improving State Government.

BE IT FURTHER ORDERED, that this Executive Order shall become effective immediately and shall remain in effect until such time it is modified or rescinded by the Governor.

DONE THIS 12th day of February, 2015.

Robert Bentley
Governor
