MONTGOMERY (Governor’s Office) – Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to the Bibb County Commission. This grant totaling $546,000 will fund infrastructure improvements in the Town of Woodstock, to support the location of MollerTech USA, LLC to the area.

“Attracting companies and new jobs to rural counties remains a priority in our overall economic development strategy. This grant will be crucial in helping Bibb County make necessary infrastructure improvements in preparation for MollerTech’s manufacturing facility,” Governor Bentley said. “I am very proud to award a grant that will also create jobs and help improve the quality of life in Bibb County. Job creation is key to making Alabama a great state.”

This $546,000 CDBG will be used to assist MollerTech USA, LLC, by extending sewer service into The Scott G. Davis Industrial Park adjacent to the Town of Woodstock. MollerTech is a German auto supplier specializing in development and production of plastic parts. The project will employ 160 persons of whom at least 51 percent will be of low and moderate income.

CDBG grants are made available through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).

“Proper infrastructure is critical to recruiting jobs in Alabama,” ADECA Director Jim Byard, Jr. said. “As project agreements are being developed at the state and local level, ADECA is an important resource to ensure sewer service and other needed infrastructure are ready for economic development. I am proud of ADECA’s investment in Bibb County and the addition of 160 jobs for our citizens.”

The CDBG program provides communities with resources to meet development needs and goes to affect the lives of millions of people throughout the country.
